Bracelet needs cleaning?

If your braid gets dirty - gently wash the horsehair with gentle shampoo and warm water. We recommend a non-sodium laureth sulfate, and non-oil based shampoo. Lay it to dry flat with clasp done up so it retains its shape. There are glues inside the end caps that resist water penetration as well as anything else can. However repeated soaking can lead to failure in the glues over time. You can send your bracelet to us to reglue/reseat hair in caps at no cost except postage, so if you notice any movement in an end cap, we recommend it be addressed early, before there is any chance of it failing while you are wearing it.

Spa?

Spas are terrible for silver jewelry. Silver turns black. There are ways to reshine the silver - but! - it can discolour the hair, and light coloured hair that is stained in a spa cannot be returned to its original colour.

Horsefeed?

Mixing horse feed with your bracelet on can result in oils absorbing into the braid, as well as feed. While feed and oil can be washed out of the hair, oils can potentially cause the glues in the end caps to fail.

Showers?

Yes you can wear your bracelet in the shower, just be aware that over time it can weaken glues. Very hot water can cause silver to expand very slightly and this can affect glue strength also. If you wear it in the shower, be sure to regularly check the end caps are remaining firmly placed.

Snags?

Hairs that get damaged can be repaired several ways. A single snag can normally be carefully massaged back into place. A single torn hair can be cut so that the two ends are hidden from sight. You may be able to manage this at home with some nail scissors. A bunch of hair snagged or snapped means it needs to come back to us to repair/rebraid. We can repair most damage if its returned to us before the breakage becomes too extensive.

Dull?

Silver naturally dulls with exposure to air. We provide a silver polishing cloth with your item that can be used to rub the silver back to sparkling. If your bracelet is needing a full polish on our wheels to buff out scratches etc, send it in to us, the service is free (just post to pay).
